MAY 2023 MESSAGE OF THE MONTH Rev Chris Oyakhilome Dsc Dsc DD Psalm 82:1-8 These are 8 verses from one of the psalms of Asaph, a prophet. Several of his Psalms were given to us as scripture. That's remarkable! From these 8 verses certain things immediately come to light. First thing, At the end, we find Asaph was prophesying. He makes a prayer to God on the basis of the revelation given to him from verse 1-7 . Secondly, 'the gods' referred to were human beings not angelic beings. Angels don't die. God was talking to human beings. Reading into verse 6, we remember Jesus quoting this verse in John 10V34-36 Jesus says that God refered to those whom he called Judges, as gods. Though they were men, He called them gods because he raised them to be Judges. (82:2) They accepted and conferred honor on people whom they knew were wicked.
