PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME  The original Hebrew word for "obedient" in the verse above is “shama,” which appears, specifically, 1,159 times in the Authorized Version. Notably, it is translated as "obedient" only eight times for contextual relevance. In fact, it is translated as "hear" 785 times and as "hearken" 169 times. SUNDAY APRIL 6TH 2025 AN UNCONDITIONAL INSTRUCTION Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee (Exodus 20:12). PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME  The Word of God provides clear instructions about the relationship between children and their parents. The apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:1-3 (AMPC) highlights the importance of children obeying and honouring their parents: “CHILDREN, OBEY your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right. Honour (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother--this is the first commandment with a promise-- That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.”  When you dishonour your parents, it affects your life negatively. Success may come, but it can be fleeting, with cycles of ups and downs, losses, and instability.
