PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME Dsc. Dsc. DD. From our opening scripture above, we observe something really extraordinary about our righteousness in Christ: It’s a product of divine exchange. When the Lord Jesus took your place on the Cross, He became sin for your sake, not a sinner, but the sacrifice for sin. He took up your sinful nature for you to become righteous with His righteousness. That is the greatest transaction in history. It’s for this reason that we say the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Gospel of substitution. God made the Lord Jesus, who knew no sin, to become sin for you so that you might be made the righteousness of God in Him. This was perfectly legal.
