Knowing the word of God for yourself is so important; you must keep learning and growing in grace. Don't assume that you already know enough of the word or think you know everything because you've been a Christian for several years;  being a Christian all your life does not necessary equate to spiritual growth; it takes studying and acting on the word to grow spiritually.
