HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS! (What Christmas Really Means)

Luke 2:11 Sunday, 25 “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Christmas is a time when God’s children all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But have you ever asked yourself what “C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S” means?

“C” means “Christ has come!” Christ is born and is here now!

“H” stands for “Hope.” We’re at rest now, because Christ has come, and our hope for a glorious life has been fulfilled.

“R” means “Righteousness!” There’s no need to struggle to please God with our own works of righteousness because He has made us the epitome of His own righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).

“I” means “Inheritance!” An inheritance has been bestowed on us; we’re no longer poor. Rather, we’re jointheirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).

“S” means “Salvation.” Salvation has been consummated since Christ has come.

“T” means “Tell the untold that Christ has come.” Tell someone about Jesus today! “M” means “Ministry,” which refers to taking our place as ministers of reconciliation. And what is the message of that ministry? That’s what

“A” stands for—“Acceptance!” We’re to tell the whole world that they’ve been forgiven and accepted by the Father, irrespective of their past. God is not counting their sins against them (2 Corinthians 5:19). The final

“S” refers to sonship. Now that we are accepted in Him, He has brought us into “sonship!” (1 John 3:2). This is what Christmas means. So, as you celebrate today, think on these things, and your Christmas will be glorious. Merry Christmas!

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME The Bible records that in ancient times, humans lived for exceptionally long periods with lifespans exceeding 900 years. However, as sin increased, lifespans diminished. Genesis 6:3 says because of sin, man's lifespan was limited to 120 years. Moses, in his psalms, made an observation that due to sin, the typical lifespan of man was seventy years or eighty for those who were stronger. Even in old age, man’s life was filled with toil and sorrow, ultimately ending in death (Psalm 90:8-10). The Lord Jesus, however, came to address the root cause of this limitation, which is sin. Through His sacrifice, He provided salvation from sin and made eternal life possible. Eternal life includes “deathlessness.” When you were born again, you passed from death to life (John 5:24). The light of God is in you, in your spirit. You bear the perfections of Christ. Hallelujah! The Bible says, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). You’re truly the living tabernacle of God! Christ is alive in you. We are the last generation; the generation called to manifest His glory in the earth. This is what the earth has been waiting for. Romans 8:19 says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” We’re in office; we’ve taken our place of dominion, impacting our world with the glory of God. The major problem with some people today is that they trust so much in their wealth and riches and have lost sight of who truly matters in their affairs, because they think it’s all about money. Never let anything take your attention away from the Lord. Let the Spirit have pre-eminence in your life.
