π΄ Today is Easter Sunday... but what does the Bible actually say?
All over the world, Christians and non-Christians alike celebrate Easter — but very few understand what they’re truly celebrating.
The word “Easter” appears only once in the entire Bible — Acts 12:4.
And even that single appearance is misleading.
In most translations of the Bible, the Greek word “Pascha” is translated correctly as Passover — a sacred Jewish celebration of divine judgment and deliverance. But in the King James Version, Acts 12:4 translates Pascha as Easter.
Why?
π΄ The word "Easter" has pagan roots, not Christian ones.
Easter comes from Ishtar, the name of a Babylonian fertility goddess.
The timing of her worship coincided with spring festivals — and centuries later, it merged with the celebration of the resurrection of Christ.
So, how did it gain such prominence?
Though it appears only once in Scripture, that one mistranslation has now become a global title for one of Christianity’s holiest events.
π΄ Why aren’t we fighting the word anymore?
> "Well, thank God, it got arrested — and it's even now Christianized, so that's why we're not fighting it."
– Pastor Chris
Today, the power of its pagan origins has been neutralized in the Christian mind. The Church has reclaimed it, using Easter to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus. But it’s important to understand the real message behind what we celebrate.
π΄ Jesus is our Passover.
> “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you...”
(Exodus 12:13)
Passover was a night of judgment — and Christ is our Passover Lamb.
He took the judgment for us. When God sees the blood of Jesus, He passes over us.
Easter isn’t just about a bunny or a day off. It’s about judgment, mercy, and resurrection life.
π΄ The message of Passover is powerful:
✔ Jesus was wounded for our transgressions
✔ He was crushed for our iniquities
✔ He took our place in judgment
✔ He bore our sicknesses and diseases
✔ He brought us eternal life
π΄ He was rejected so we would be accepted.
He was the Word made flesh, the visible expression of the invisible God, and through Him, we passed from death into life.
> “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief...”
(Isaiah 53:3–5)
His wounds became our healing.
His death became our life.
His sacrifice became our victory.
π΄ So, what do we celebrate on Easter Sunday?
We celebrate the Passover fulfilled.
We celebrate death defeated.
We celebrate resurrection life.
We celebrate Jesus — our Lord and Christ...... click on the link below to study the message:use your mouth to control your future by Pastor Chris
