BOLDNESS BY THE SPIRIT

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME Dsc. Dsc. DD.

In the early Church, spiritual boldness was a mark of those filled with the Holy Spirit. Even in the face of severe persecution, they didn’t shrink in fear or retreat in silence. Instead, they preached the Gospel with boldness. When Peter and John were arrested and threatened not to speak in the Name of Jesus (Acts 4:3 NLT), they didn’t cower but continued to speak boldly in the Name of the Lord.

When you study further into verse 8, it specifically tells us that Peter, being filled with the Spirit, began to expound the Gospel to the people, including the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees. He spoke the Word with courage, clarity, and conviction, even in the face of persecution.

That same Spirit dwells in you and has made you a bold and effective minister of the Gospel: “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6).

This boldness is a spiritual force. It comes from deep communion with the Lord and a heart convinced of His truth. When you’re full of the Word and full of the Spirit, you’re never timid or reluctant to speak to anyone about Jesus. It’s also one of the reasons you must pray fervently in tongues every so often. It edifies and emboldens you: “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself…” (1 Corinthians 14:4).

Like the apostles, make prayer your launching pad. Remember what happened when they prayed in Acts 4:31; power was released and boldness was stirred. Hallelujah! So, step out and speak up; the Holy Ghost is your advantage. You’re bold in the Spirit!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for filling me with your Spirit. I speak your Word today with boldness, authority and love. I’m fearless, unwavering and fruitful in every opportunity to share the Gospel and bring many into the Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Acts 13:44-46; And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

2 Timothy 1:7-8; For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Ephesians 6:19-20 NKJV and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

MONDAY AUGUST 26TH 2024 EXTRICATED FROM DEATH …who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).  PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME  The Bible records that in ancient times, humans lived for exceptionally long periods with lifespans exceeding 900 years. However, as sin increased, lifespans diminished. Genesis 6:3 says because of sin, man's lifespan was limited to 120 years. Moses, in his psalms, made an observation that due to sin, the typical lifespan of man was seventy years or eighty for those who were stronger. Even in old age, man’s life was filled with toil and sorrow, ultimately ending in death (Psalm 90:8-10). The Lord Jesus, however, came to address the root cause of this limitation, which is sin. Through His sacrifice, He provided salvation from sin and made eternal life possible. Eternal life includes “deathlessness.” When you were born again, you passed from death to life (John 5:24). Recall what we read in our them...

MONDAY, 14TH JULY 2025 THE VIRGIN BIRTH CONFIRMS HIS DEITY   Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us  (Matthew 1:23). PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME    When we say Jesus Christ is deity, we’re affirmingthat He is God. This claim is significant, especially when you consider that many around the world view Jesus merely as a prophet or a great teacher. While it may seem respectful for some to call Him a great prophet or a remarkable teacher, these assertions fall far short of His true identity.    That’s the reason it’s important to understand who He really is by first examining the miracle of His birth. TheBible describes His birth as extraordinary, something that had never occurred in all of history. Matthew 1:18 says, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with c...
