THE URGENCY OF THE GOSPEL

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME Dsc. Dsc. DD.

Time is one of the most precious resources you have, and the urgency of the moment demands that you use it wisely. Jesus knew this. He spoke of doing the Father’s work while it is day, revealing the urgency of the times and the shortness of the window we’ve been given.

There’s coming a time when the opportunities we have now to freely preach the Gospel will be gone. The doors we now walk through freely may one day be closed. That’s why you must act with urgency, preaching the Gospel. Impact your world with the light of Christ’s salvation now.

Delay in evangelism can mean eternal loss for someone who needed to hear the truth from you today. That co-worker, neighbour or friend may not have another chance. You’re their light; you’re God’s point of contact to bring them out of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Don’t let them live another day without God. The Bible paints the gloomy state of those who live without God and without Christ in the world (Ephesians 2:12). They’re hopeless, in despair, and doomed to destruction. But you’re their hope.

This is not a season for complacent Christianity but a time for bold action, a time to complete the full preaching of the Gospel in all nations. Let your life be aligned with heaven’s urgency. Every moment matters. Every soul counts. Therefore, be led by the Spirit and seize the moment. Do all you can while you can!

Recall the words of the Master, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4). The night approaches, but for now, we shine, proclaiming God’s truth, turning sinners to righteousness. We’re compelled by Christ’s love, and in the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:16, necessity is laid upon us to preach the Gospel. Woe unto us if we don’t preach the Gospel. The nations are ready and ripe with harvest, and we’re bringing in the sheaves.

CONFESSION

I recognize the urgency of the Gospel and I act swiftly. I am sensitive to divine timing, and I seize every opportunity to preach, to shine, and to win souls. I will not delay, and I will not be silent. Hallelujah!

2 Corinthians 6:1-2; We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

1 Corinthians 9:16; For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

Romans 13:11-12 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

MONDAY AUGUST 26TH 2024 EXTRICATED FROM DEATH …who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).  PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME  The Bible records that in ancient times, humans lived for exceptionally long periods with lifespans exceeding 900 years. However, as sin increased, lifespans diminished. Genesis 6:3 says because of sin, man's lifespan was limited to 120 years. Moses, in his psalms, made an observation that due to sin, the typical lifespan of man was seventy years or eighty for those who were stronger. Even in old age, man’s life was filled with toil and sorrow, ultimately ending in death (Psalm 90:8-10). The Lord Jesus, however, came to address the root cause of this limitation, which is sin. Through His sacrifice, He provided salvation from sin and made eternal life possible. Eternal life includes “deathlessness.” When you were born again, you passed from death to life (John 5:24). Recall what we read in our them...

MONDAY, 14TH JULY 2025 THE VIRGIN BIRTH CONFIRMS HIS DEITY   Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us  (Matthew 1:23). PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME    When we say Jesus Christ is deity, we’re affirmingthat He is God. This claim is significant, especially when you consider that many around the world view Jesus merely as a prophet or a great teacher. While it may seem respectful for some to call Him a great prophet or a remarkable teacher, these assertions fall far short of His true identity.    That’s the reason it’s important to understand who He really is by first examining the miracle of His birth. TheBible describes His birth as extraordinary, something that had never occurred in all of history. Matthew 1:18 says, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with c...
