π΄The house of God is the number one place for your seriousness as a child of God!
π΄You have to know what's pursuing you. Is it the Gospel or is it a vagabond spirit!
π΄A young man once told me he couldn’t make out time to go to church on Sunday because he had to go play soccer.
How sad!
π Luke 21:34
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
π΄The Lord Jesus Christ in the above scripture warns us on the need to be careful, lest our hearts become overcharged with surfeiting.
π΄In other words, He’s telling us to avoid overindulgence in the things we’re interested in or like to do, so much so that we get lost in them.
π΄Playing soccer or getting involved in any other kind of sport or recreational activity is good, but it’s only profitable to you in this life.
π΄Therefore, you shouldn’t let such engagements take pre-eminence over being in Church when you ought to.
π΄The Bible says concerning Jesus that “…he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read” (Luke 4:16).
π΄In other words, Jesus had a culture of going to the synagogue, which was a place of worship and a type of Church in that age.
π΄It was part of His personal discipline and devotion.
π΄If the Master took it as an important activity, you should do so too.
π΄If you don’t go to Church, you will not grow the way you ought to.
π΄Going to Church is one of those things you must do to exercise yourself spiritually; it’s more than just a weekly routine.
π΄The Apostle Paul warned, “Let us not neglect our Church meetings, as some people do…” (Hebrews 10:25 TLB).
π΄He expressed his displeasure at those who wouldn’t go to Church and warned others not to copy their attitude.
π΄Make a personal commitment that you will always be in Church on the days of worship.
π΄Don’t skip Church services or go only when it’s convenient for you. This is one sure way to walk in God’s Will for your life this year.
