STAY IN THE WORD (Remain Connected To Your Source)
TO THE BIBLE 1 Peter 1:23 “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever."
LET’S TALK
Just as every device must stay connected to its power source to function, every living system in nature depends on the environment that produced it. Fish survive only in water because their bodies are designed to extract oxygen from it, while land animals rely on air and solid ground for movement and life. When any organism is separated from its natural source, it quickly weakens and dies. This simple principle of life reveals an important spiritual truth.
In the book of Genesis, God said, “...Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures” (Genesis 1:20). He spoke to the water to produce fish and other sea creatures. That’s why the fish in the sea have to remain in the water to survive, because that’s their source. If you were to take a fish out of your aquarium and place it on a beautifully ornamented table, it would die, as it’s cut off from its source.
In the same way, God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so” (Genesis 1:24). So, all the animals that live on land actually came from the earth and that’s why they must remain on land to stay alive. No land animal can successfully live in the water permanently because the land is its source. Man is a spirit, and his spirit came from God, even though his physical body came from the ground. Any man who is cut off from God, his source, is actually in death. That’s why Jesus said that such a one must be born again (John 3:7).
If you’re born again, you’re born by the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23), therefore you also must remain connected to your source, which is the Word of God, which itself is God (John 1:1). Skipping your Bible study is like letting your spirit starve or leaving your phone on 1% battery; you won’t have the strength to function properly. Make a quality decision to remain connected to the Word of God, which is the nourishment you need for a healthy, prosperous, successful and victorious life! Don’t just scroll through social media all morning; read and study the Word every day, meditate on it and keep speaking it.
GO DEEPER
John 1:12-13
PRAY
Dear Father, your Word is the source of my life and my nourishment. I pray that my hunger for your Word would increase every day, making me plug into it deeper and deeper. I thank you because the more I grow in the Word, the better I function in this life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
