❓️Question:
> “Pastor, I am always confused when my friend and some other people say we have female pastors in our church, when the Bible says in 1 Corinthians that women should not speak in the house of God. What do you think?”
π₯ Answer:
π΄ Oh, dear Lord! You know there are people who are always going to ask questions. They are always trying to ask questions, not because they want to know, but because they want to criticize. They come with a kind of question, but when you give them the answer, they don't want to listen. Get the Scriptures. The Scriptures will help you.
π΄ In 1 Corinthians 14:32, the Bible says,
> “And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.”
Then he says in verse 33,
> “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
Then, in verse 34, he says,
> “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.”
π΄ Now, you have to understand what he is talking about. He is talking about order in the church. Then he says, if they want to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home. But you have to understand the context.
π΄ Because if you take that statement to mean that women must never speak in church, then you have a problem with what he said earlier in 1 Corinthians 11:5:
> “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head.”
❓️Did you see that?
π΄ If women were not permitted to speak at all in church, why would he give instructions concerning a woman praying and prophesying? He didn't say a woman must never pray. He didn't say a woman must never prophesy. He gave instructions concerning how she should do it.

π΄ So, when you read Scripture, you have to understand what is being discussed. You cannot take one verse and build an entire doctrine around it without considering the rest of the Scriptures.
π΄ In 1 Corinthians 14:24, he says,
> “But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all.”
Then in verse 26 he says,
> “How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.”
❓️ So what is the purpose?
π Edification. The purpose is to build the Church.
π΄ Then he says in 1 Corinthians 14:3,
> “But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
❗️So prophecy is for the edification of the Church, for exhortation, and for comfort.
π΄ Now look at something very important. In Acts 21:8-9, the Bible says that Paul and those with him came to Caesarea and entered into the house of Philip the evangelist. And it says,
> “the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.”
❗️These were Philip's daughters, and they prophesied.
π΄ Now, if women could not speak or minister spiritually in any capacity, why would the Bible tell us that Philip had four daughters who prophesied?
π΄ And remember, Acts 2:17 says,
> “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.”
❗️Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.
π So, when you come to Scripture, don't make flat statements without examining the Scriptures. You have to understand what the Word of God is saying and why it is saying it.
π΄ The gift of prophecy is not given to somebody because the person is a man. The Bible says the Spirit gives the gifts as He wills. The purpose of prophecy is to edify the Church. If somebody has received the gift of prophecy and uses it to edify the Church, you cannot simply say, “No, you cannot do that because you are a woman,” without understanding what the Scriptures actually teach.
π΄ And when you read 1 Corinthians 14, you have to understand that Paul was dealing with order in the church. People were speaking at the same time, people were asking questions, people were prophesying, and there was confusion. So he was teaching them how things should be done properly.
π΄ The conclusion is simple: don't take one Scripture and use it to cancel another Scripture. Study the Scriptures together. Understand the context. Understand what the Spirit of God is teaching through the whole Word.
GOD BLESS YOU ππ½
