*YOU DON'T GROW IN RIGHTEOUSNESS*

_For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ_ *(Romans 5:17)*

In Christianity, we grow spiritually, we grow in faith, and we grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. But we don’t grow in righteousness. Your righteousness doesn’t increase. What if I pray more, study the Word more, and mature in the things of God, won’t I become more righteous? You might ask.

While those things are beautiful and recommended because of their enormous blessings in your life, nothing increases or decreases your righteousness as a child of God. The teaching of the Scriptures is that the moment you were born again, the righteousness of Christ was imparted to your spirit. God didn't begin a process of making you righteous; He made you righteous. He gave you the very righteousness of Christ.

You're as righteous as Jesus is because it's His righteousness that was imparted to your spirit. Your righteousness isn't an inferior righteousness that gradually matures until it resembles His. No. It is God’s righteousness: *“...and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD”* (Isaiah 54:17).

Christ's righteousness is perfect, complete, and absolute; it can't be improved upon. Since it is His righteousness that has been imparted to you, you can't be more righteous tomorrow than you are today. You already have the maximum righteousness because you've received the righteousness of Christ.

As already stated, this doesn't mean there is no growth in the Christian life. Certainly, there is. You grow in wisdom and in the expression of the divine life that's in your spirit. But your righteousness is consummated from the moment of the New Birth because it is Christ's righteousness, not yours. Your spiritual growth is the unfolding of the life and nature you've already received, not an improvement of your righteousness.

Never think of yourself as one trying to become righteous. Rather, always be conscious that you're the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It will give you boldness in God's presence, confidence in your fellowship with Him, and the assurance that your right standing with the Father rests forever on Christ's perfect righteousness imparted to your spirit.

*PRAYER*

_Dear Father, you’ve made me your righteousness in Christ Jesus. I rejoice in the perfection of your righteousness in me. I walk in boldness, confidence, and unwavering assurance that I’m supremely blessed and eternally established in your righteousness. My life is the expression of your grace, glory and truth, today and always, in Jesus' Name. Amen._

*FURTHER STUDY:*

*2 Corinthians 5:21* For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

*1 Corinthians 1:30* But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

*Romans 3:21-22* But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; *22* Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6TH 2025 LET THE GOSPEL BE YOUR PASSION For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth... (Romans 1:16). PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME Dsc. Dsc. DD. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God to save, heal, deliver and transform lives. That’s why it must be a message you understand, live by, and burn with passion to share with others especially as the coming of the Lord draws nearer than we’ve ever known. Paul the Apostle declared that he was not ashamed of the Gospel. That statement came from a place of deep conviction and unwavering commitment. For him, preaching the Gospel wasn’t optional but life itself. He lived for the Gospel and was willing to die for its advancement. Read His inspiring and heart-stirring words in Acts 20:22-27, “And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying ...

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH 2025 THE KINGDOM, THE FIELD, AND THE SEED Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field (Matthew 13:24). PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME Dsc. Dsc. DD. The Lord Jesus, in His remarkable teachings about the Kingdom, used parables to unveil profound truths. One of such examples is the parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew 13. He said, "...the kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field" (Matthew 13:24). That "man" is the Lord Himself, while the "good seed" represents the children of the Kingdom. The "field," as He later explained, is the world. This is extraordinary. The Lord sowed good seed, not in someone else's field, but in His own field. That tells you the world is His field and part of His Kingdom. It belongs to Him. No matter what we see in the world today, no matter how polluted it appears, the field still b...
